Matching Gifts are an easy way to double or even triple your contribution to the Lanier Library.  Many employers match a percentage of your contributions to the Lanier Library. Contact your employer’s human resources office to find out if you are eligible.  If Lanier Library is not a listed organization, please let us know so that we can make an application to become a matching gift recipient organization.

Gifts can be made to the Lanier Library in memory or honor of a loved one or friend and to celebrate many occasions including birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries. If you would like, we would be glad to notify the person that you are honoring in person, by telephone, or by written acknowledgement.  We will also recognize the person honored and you as a donor in our Annual Report and at the Library.

When making a gift, please indicate the name of the person you are honoring and those you would like notified.  You may also remain anonymous by notifying the Library of your desire.

If you have any questions about tribute or memorial, please contact Jenny Purtill, Executive Director of the Lanier Library Association at:  828-859-9535 or

The Lanier Library is pleased to offer a way to honor your loved ones.

Members and others may dedicate books to the special people and events in their lives.  For $25 each, members may select a specific book to dedicate in honor or in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion. A beautiful book plate printed over a lovely watercolor by library member Christine Mariotti will be placed inside the front cover of the chosen book.

There are two mechanisms for members to select the specific book to dedicate:

  • Select an existing book from the Library’s collection (with exceptions for books that have already been dedicated and rare/highly-collectible books)
  • Select a book that has recently been chosen for acquisition by our Media Selection Committee (posted on the bulletin board in the library)

Book dedications will be recognized in the Library’s newsletter and in a separate section of the annual donor recognition list.  At the request of the donor, a letter of recognition will be sent to the dedicatee.  To dedicate a book, fill out the Book Dedication Form and drop it by the library.

Proceeds from Book Dedications will go to support the ongoing operations of the Lanier Library.
