Find and borrow classics, forgotten pleasures, childhood fancies, bold enlightenment, best sellers, page turners, and simple moments of reflective solitude. The Lanier Library collection includes the latest in print and audio fiction and non-fiction, either sourced and acquired by a bibliophile committee of members or requested by any member.
Follow the signs to the Felburn Nature and Wildlife Collection on the lower level of Lanier Library. Horses and dinosaurs, birds and butterflies, plants and minerals…just about all of nature has permanently taken over the shelves of the historic LeDuc Room.
In 1982, the Felburn Foundation established the Felburn Nature Library to house a collection of nature and wildlife books and specimens. In the pastoral setting overlooking the Pacolet River, the collection quietly and steadily grew. When age and
illness slowed the caretakers into retirement, the Foundation Board elected to close the facility in 2016. Foundation director Guy Marwick, contacted the Lanier Library board to determine interest in preserving the collection for Lanier Library members. In addition to a donation of almost 2,800 books, the Foundation also provided a generous grant for maintenance and updates.
